Engine Running Rough!!

Can anyone help?

I have a 2000 'X' Punto 1.2 8v, 81kmiles & new cambelt, and broke down last nite,

The engine has lost power and only just ticks over, it's as if it's only running on 2/3 cylinders! the breakdown guy checked the spark to plugs and they were fine, he did say it might have droped a valve! has this happened to anyone? when you rev it slightly there is a metalic noise.

Cheers

Jim

Re: Engine Running Rough!!

this sounds like pinking (i've JUST done about it at college)

its when the fuel is ignigtine early in the cylinder before the spark, which has a mettalic sound to it

coil drivers (transistors) one thing to smile about is a ECU off ebay etc will cost you 70-80.....a ford ecu (common problem especially on mondeo/focus) is 600

I have got ECU's off ebay with no problems.
