hello peeps was wondering if you can reset the keycode ecu as mine is playing up and was thinking is it might be possible to change the key code ecu from another punto or other fiat and reset would this then learn the codes from my keys ??????/ ive got all three keys

im getting the car back 2day from fiat so will have the full diagnostics they wanted to do the work but would cost £646 for a new blue key key code ecu and injection ecu dont know why they want to sell me a blue key because ive got 1 red a 2 blue many thx hope some1 can help me out

You don`t say why your wanting the ecu "reset" if the red key is lost and you have the need for a new key so you have 2 keys you can buy a blank from Fiat and some locksmiths can clone the blank and cut it to the original key so you would not need to spend lots, but if the key code box has failed then a new code box can be fitted and encrypted to the engine ecu, But( last one ) but if all keys are lost then its deep pocket time new code box, new ecu new key set. But (I lied) there are companies that can wipe the code memory from your ecu so all you need is a key , there are other posts on this subject in the history

Sound someones telling porkys. If you have lost your red key, A fiat dealer should be able to get the fuel ecu decoded for about £150 and then fit a new code ecu about £75 and you will need a new lockset(block) as this contains new red key as well with chip in.The just a couple of hours labour and all should be fine.

hello ive got all 3 keys the red 1 and 2 blues got back from fiat they was saying i need a blue key but i dont key code ecu and injection ecu and they said they suspect that the heater matrix is leaking slightly but checked dont seem to be any signs of that think they just want my money im i right in thinking that if i disconect the key code ecu ive got on the car and have the main ecu resett to virgin state that the car will start but will not need any codes from the key code ecu ? many thxs

Yes, disconnect the key code box and get the engine ecu memory erased of the immobiliser code then as long as you do not reconnect the code box you can use the car ok, with the keys you have now.

what kind of price am i looking at to get the main ecu to virgin state?could the key code ecu be done same time? also how much but if the fault is just with the key code ecu will i be able just to get that done what are my opts?

You will have to shop around about the engine ecu, try "BBa-reman" on internet,or ask at a good motor factors, if the ecu is made virgin then you can disconnect the code box yourself and leave it disconnected for life and the car will run and start fine, but you will not have the immbiliser operation.

hi all i offer a bit of hope to all those having problems with punto keys
and the ecu,
i had the same fault so after reading about it here,
i went round my local scrapyards, plenty of puntos but no one had the keys, i then found one older punto the ecu matched mine, so i went under the dash to get the code box there wasent one even the mounting plate was mising[not removed it wasent fitted] i paid 10 quid for the ecu fitted it to my m reg punto and unwired the code box.
to my amazement turned the key and away she went.
was i just lucky? finding a uncoded ecu or is there a older punto that never had the code.
look forward to hearing your views. steve
