Hello

My Mk2 Punto sporting is still not running smoothly despite being serviced last week. The garage said that I need to find a compatible code reader as their two wouldn't talk to my car. Basically the revs are hunting when stationary (between 500 and 1000) making the car rather wobbly, especially when warmed up. It also seems hesitant around 3000 revs when accelerating, especially in 3rd. The fuel economy isn't great at around 35mpg but I think this is because I send my life going nowehere in traffic or at slowish speeds

Is there anyone in the area around Sutton (or within a sensble distance in S London/Surrey etc) with a code reader they could hook up to my car to diagnose the issue or does anyone have an idea what might be the reason.

Cheers in advance (y)

I haven't noticed the lights (I'll look in the morning), just the car juddering as it hunts, feels like it may stall

Air leaks from where?

As I say, it is normally once the car is warmed up- quarter to half on the temp gauge

Cheers dave :)

Diagnostics done by Fiat and apparently, one of the HT leads is damaged and one of the coil packs has too high resistance - new leads and a coil pack needed. They have quoted £330 to do (crazy cost for the parts, plus an hour of main dealer labour at £94 an hour). the parts on Shop4 are around £130, so hope to get it done at local place for <£200 :( So that's £700 in a month on a car that cost £1600 (and I still need to get the cambelt done :( )

wtf get a coul pack from scrappy for £15 same one as fitted to a 1.4 12v bravo so plenty of them at a scrappy. can get super posh k1 leads for about £60 a set normal ones about £20

easy job a girl could do it, or get the bits and bring them to rolling road day on saturday an we will fit them for you

Let's just say I am not going to be able to do it, I have no tools and no skills, don't even know what these bits are. I prefer to work 50+ hours a week to pay for someone else to do it

I'll have a look at 2nd hand parts, but what's to say it will work? Unfortunately, everything seems much more for the Mk2

Hmmm, this looks the ticket? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAT-PUNTO-MK-2-COIL-PACK-8-16-VALVE-1-2-1-4-ENGINES_W0QQitemZ280260057414QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item280260057414&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1299|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

I am not terribly trusting of eBay - prefer genuine parts

Dave - where is the rolling road day on Saturday? if I can get the parts in time

OK, is it the one in Watford? Far too far away, with petrol and the time, may as well just pay someone to do this

Sold, and I have ordered parts from local motor factors for around £100 all in, so less than half of Fiat's cost and cheaper than shop4parts ! Be £35-70 to fit depending on how long it takes which is fine

I have no idea where Missy lives

All sorted now, running far better and no wobble at all on idle  - £95 for the parts and £30 cash for the fitting...somewhat better than Fiat's £330
