Hi all, I wonder if anybody can help with a couple of problems I've got.
I've got my Mk1 Punto 55s booked in for an MOT on Thursday & was hoping to clear up some niggly things that have been bothering me before I take it in.
First of all the noise from the steering, it's like an intermittent creaking noise when I turn the steering in either direction, it doesn't happen all the time & I haven't noticed any pattern (Cold, low speeds etc...) it just happens sometimes. The noise comes from inside the car, just behind the steering wheel itself.
Secondly my rear lights, they've been bothering me since I brought the car a year ago. The brake switch (I brought a new one) above the brake pedal is tempramental & won't work when it's cold & when it does, the brake lights intefere with my left indicator (Speeds up) I've taken the cluster out & cleaned the contacts on both the bulbs & the light unit itself but this only fixes it for a short while and the problem reappears.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dan

Can I give this one a nudge

My 2002 1.2 is displaying the same problems as mentioned here. I have replaced the white electrical connector at the light cluster and cleaned up the connectors which seemed to solved the issue in the short term but now brake light and indicator flash whenever I indicate left and brake concurrently.

The steering is also giving the grinding noises that I have seen around the forum, will hoist the car up when I can to investigate.

When I got the replacement connector for the light cluster one of the lads mentioned a dodgy earth, I'm beginning to agree but I wouldn't know where to start?

Great forum btw, which has provided quite a bit of advice, hence the decision to become a member.
