lool i thought this thread finished ages ago lol

well the lights i av in the front are now connected to a swtich in the car so thats ok but wat do u mean that my breather is gona fail my MOT.. do i av to take it off then or wat... i didnt no it would fail my m.o.t! its just a lil filter!

on the old arbox its connected to the min flter no straigt to the atmosphere. so youll have to find some way of connecting it to your green cotton or pray the mechanic doesnt look under your bonnet!

so y the hell do i av the lil filter on it now... does it make a difference?

thanks

cos it came in the kit i guess, some do but it wont pass ya MOT if the mechanic take a look. emissions are a big issue noy really, thats why a decat aint such a good idea unles you run it on the more expensive fuel.

im not being funny but do you have any idea what your talking about? what effect does expensive fuel have on a decat or not situation?

the car has to pass an emmissions test, if it can do this with a decat then that is fine however alot wont pass without a cat.

more expensive fuel had less emissionsthats what i was talking about, and to be honest i dont know much about it apart form that dects are useless on small engines and mae you fail your MOT.

more expensive doesnt have less emmissions, who gave you that little nugget of information?

for a start, these cars will only be mapped for 95ron fuel, any higher will be useless especially as they dont have a knock sensor.

only punto id put higher than 95 ron in would be the gt turbo, higher ron fuel helps prevent detonation.

Puntos wont usually have trouble with emissions on a MoT as they have twin coils - wasted spark so evan if the cat is damaged should be ok....

this also makes no ods

go on goggle and find out exactly what cats do to your exhaust and you'll see why

crankcase gasses must be sent throu the engine and used along with the next fuel mixture to make sure they go throu the cat and are theoretically clean

any exhaust gas escaping the engine either throu a leaking oil filer cap or broken breather hose is an mot fail

the lil filter you have on the breather is simply separating oil from gas in an attempt to stop your engine getting covered in oil spats

you need to try and integrate the breather pipe into your inlet after the filter like in proper induction kits t pass

so do your self a favour and go get a gsr kit you know it makes sense

and listen to rover 220 about fuel ron numbers he knows what he's on about

only advantage to 98 ron is it tends to run smother and quieter and better mpg simply because it's much higher quality not because it's higher octane rating

only cars with knock sensors can alter there ignition timing to gain power from higher octane fuel like all 16v fiats

ive noticed that my sporting does seem to run a lil better on the likes of v-power and optimax, but as littlepip has said it is purely because it is a better fuel not the octane rating.

and ive noticed onf riends cars that if you do have a mini filter ont he cam breather that it does infact leak oil after a while.

you are less likely to suffer pinking and pre-ignition from a higher octane fuel so this is most likely why they run smoother
