Quick question: y-reg Punto 1.2 has developed curious fault where the handbrake and 'door open' lights come on overnight -- the car is locked (with all the doors shut) and the key not in the car. Any ideas?

Did you solve this problem? I am getting the same thing except its the power steering and engine fault light coming on overnight.

In reply to Charlie Wade, I originally asked the question on behalf of my boss (as I was already a FF member, in the new Panda section). He has since replaced the car, but his daughter still uses the Punto. I gather they both got rather adept at watching for all the lights to go off when turning the engine off before taking the key out of the ignition. So long as everything was 'fully off' when they locked the car, it stayed that way. As was mentioned before, a faulty earth or fault in the 'body computer' is most likely.

It's a 'software glitch', just disconnect body computer or battery if it happens again for a minute & all will return to normal. If airbag light is on by itself thats a different matter.
