Hi,
Had a nasty experience with a broken spark plug on my 98 Fiat Punto 60S.

The head had to be taken off and eventually the plug was removed but threads were damaged on head. Somehow this was corrected by using tiles. Has anybody come across this?

Anyway, got the car back last Friday and the fuel injection light is on. The mechanic told me that this should go in a day or two. The light is still shinning!! What has caused the light to come on? Will the ECU correct itself.
I have no problem driving except that I notice that the car doesnt seem to like accelerating from a low speed in 2nd gear(initially feels similar to accelerating from 30mph in 5th gear but then it does accelerate fine) whereas before there was never a problem.

I'd appreciate any advice
David

never seen a broken plug on a fiat before, ive only ever seen it on fords with cast heads.
no idea what a tiles is? maybe its some type of tap or helicoil?
if the lights on then it means theres a error stored in the ecu, could be anything but since you just had the head off perhaps the mechanic has left one of the sensors disconected?

thanks kebab,
does that mean that if it is a false error, it will be cleared off the ecu after 50 starts(Ive read thats how long the ecu holds on to data)?

im not sure about the 50 starts thing however afaik if the lights on all the time thats a present error, if it goes out and comes back on every now and then thats an intermittent error.

You need to get the errors read then act on the findings If you are losing power on the motorway then there is the posibility that the Lambda probe is failing but do get it checked before spending on parts to guess fix it
