Technical Disconnecting the Lambda Sensor

I am having a real nightmare getting the old lamba sensor out. How hot do i have to get the exhaust manifold before I can unsrew the sensor? Is it possible that mine has bonded to the screw thread on the manifold somehow? I thought that removing it after the engine had been running for a short while would be enough, but it wasn't. How hard can I try to remove it without damaging anything?

Thats what I would be worried about as well if i was going to attempt to do the job myself - hope you get on alright with it.

Andy.

I removed mine in about 30 seconds, after I had driven home from work - about 10 miles.

So the engine would need to be up to full operating temperature, in my opinion.

just make sure you don't ring the bolt head !!

Maybe I'm using the wrong spanner or something, because mine will just not budge. Is there a specialist tool I need to use or something? I could also do with a ramp to put the car on so I can get at the sensor from underneath, without worring about getting crushed. I might just give the sensor to my local garage, and get them to fit it. :(

had a crack around my downpipe near the very top.once i got the exhaust off,i tried toremove the lambda in the vice, and turn the pipe to unscrew the lambda.it started to undo, but once it was out,the threads were worn out.butlooking at the exhaust it had been weld before, and i expect that the bogged the lambda.found a new one at a scrap yard which had the wires crimped to the existing harness.so i now looking for a downpipe to get my fiat backon the road.or pay out £50.00 for new exhaust from partco.

is this problem of the lamba having been welded to the exhaust manifold, a common thing? I suspect this is the problem with mine.
