Hi. Well yesterday this sign has come up on my dials. It looks to me like a tap, which I think, is an engine management problem. I have noticed this did used to come on flashing when I was going at 70mph. But from yesterday it has just stayed on. Anyone got any idea’s what it might be?
I have a MK2 2001 Punto 3Door.

Thanks you all!!

When the light flashes sometimes means a misfire. The light coming on could be 1 of many things, your best to get it off to a garage with a diagnostic machine and have the error code read.

Looking at your ECU you have two stickers on it. The bottom one has got the Fiat Lancia logo a bar code and three lines.

The second line reads

IAW59F Mx/HWxxx....

If the hardware number (HW) reads anything below 100 you can be certain that your ECU is corrupted.

You will need a replacement ECU.

Same thing happened to me with the flashing engine management light over 70mph. Engine back fired. check your coils....they damaged my ecu!(n) Now the cars only running on two cylinders.

Take it to a garage and hook it up to a diagnostic machine, cross your fingers and hope for the best!

Take it to a garage and hook it up to diagnostic machine then you will know the exact problem, theres no point second guessing(y)

:yeahthat: plus if the engine light is continuously flashing instead of constant you shouldn't drive the car or you could cause damage but yea really get it to a main dealer they are the ones that know what's wrong and know about common faults
