got a problem my 60 sx went down a large car park ditch the other day front end drives ok but now alternator area makes a ssssssssssssssssssss noise like air dont know if rescent driving has done damage im sure its in alternator area, bearings in alternator??, belt??? needed, or something else not being too mechanical gotta ask you lot any help appreciated cheers also belt quite tight lol probably dont help

well no one can answer for sure.take the belt off and start the engine.if the noise goes its the alternator.
with the belt off turn the alernator to check for striking,resistence,rough feelings
if nothing then try refitting the belt to tension and see if it makes the noise.

With the engine running squirt some WD40 on the inside run of the alternator belt. Chances are it picked up some dirt in there. It should go magically quiet..

Though the sound does sound lilke alternator bearings...

Make sure you don't stick the can of WD40 or your fingers into the belt itself (it'll hurt!) and don't hold your face where any WD40 you just squirted on is going to get thrown off (it doesn't taste too good)

just to let you know it was the belt cracked on inside replaced and back to normal cheers for all the help and searched these forums for guide to remove belt and fiatforum helped alot anyway cheers peeps until the next punto problem ............................................................lol:slayer:
