Punto (Mk2/2b) How to fit a Hawk Remote Central locking universal upgrade kit to a mk2 8v punto

how do i edit this guide?! I forgot to add what colours the lock and unlock wires were from the HAWK kit.

For anyone wanting to know the lock wire is white and the unlock wire is white and black.

Nice guide, i have just read through and it looks simple so i have ordered the same kit as you. I was just wondering with the connector blocks what exactly i need, and where would be the best place to get them?

Also, i have a mk1 punto so im hoping it will be about the same, do you know exactly what the 'grey connector' is for?

I got mine from wilkinsons, they'll be in the electrical section, they're only like 50p for a strip. They have different ratings i.e. for 3 amp, 10 amp, 15 amp, 30 amp and so on.

I think i used 13/15amp ones for mine I can't see you needing ones with too high a rating.

I'm not sure if its the same for mk1 as it is for mk2, but hopefully it should be simular for ya!

The grey connector slides into a the plug thing that connects into the fusebox. The black connector also fits inside the bigger connector too.. They sort of sit next to each other. Thats all aslong as they have that connector in the mk1's!

I've no idea what all the other wires do in the connectors i'm afraid .

Oh right cool, so they are just generic things, i wasnt sure what they were used for, do they connect all the wires in one side to all the wires in the other? And you only need a strip with like 2 on each side right?

I have just looked in my fuse box and it doesnt really look like yours lol, so im not too sure lol

I am hoping it will all be straight forward, does it come with instructions in the box? And everything is just wired in to the wire that goes with it, i.e each indicator wire needs splicing the right ones?

I think this might take me more than 30 mins haha

These are what you want to look for in wilkinsons . Really all they are is 2 screws, a copper tube and an insulated case . They don't splice wires so thats why you need to strip each end. U put one wire in one end (don't push it all the way through), tighten it! Then do the same the other side but push the other side in as far as it'll go You only need ones like in the link. Hawk do telephone support so you can always give them a call. The number is on their website

Instructions are included in the box but only on what the hawk wires are, not what the car ones are . If you ring them up (or put a message in the checkout bit) you can ask them to include a datasheet for your car .

My indicators were wired in 2 wires. The brown wire was spliced and then connected to 2 different wires.

I just saw your other thread where you seemed to have a little bit of trouble yourself, i guess you were in the same situation as me! I didnt get an instruction sheet with mine though, you have that A4 sheet which tells you what to do with each wire? Perhaps if i ring hawk up they will be able to send me one, it would probably make fitting it a lot easier!

I've recently brought one of these kits for my Punto Mia 3 Door.
Unfortuantly, every guide I see on here is about the wiring, and having a dad as an electrician makes this part very simple.
We've been looking, moving trying every spot to try and put the actual motors, it's either in the way or hitting the window.
Any ideas or pictures on how to do this part of the kit would be an amazing help!

yeh dude deffo ask them! They're really nice ppl, i called um up too . Yeah i was struggling to get my head round what all the wires were and stuff, which is exactly why i made this guide

hey dude, i'm sorry but i got no idea on how to fit a full kit from scratch, just the upgrade kit... however it maybe worth calling hawk up and asking for some help.

Does anyone know if the wires are the same on a mk3 punto? Ive got a Rightclick locking set just need to find the correct wires to connect it to :/

Im in the same situation as matt... with a mk3 punto and a right click keyless entry system... how long do you think it will take to install... me being an amateur??? And are the wires the same???

I doubt they have bothered, probably only done ones for the more popular cars - I see they do a total closure module too, wonder if it works with one of these... :idea:

Do your extra buttons do anything btw like door poppers, etc or did they send you some generic fobs they usually package with the alarms?

Its worth an ask I reckon they might have some. The buttons i got on my fob (in the pic at the top of the thread) are just lock, unlock, signal and mute?

The mute button doesn't do anything, the signal one makes the hazards flash 3 times, this is apparently so you can find your car in a car park haha. I'm not sure how useful that button is tbh.

Not hard to spot Imola Blue amongst a sea of (mostly) grey/silver cars
Shame they didn't add one extra output for a boot/door popper or something else.
