I've had my 1.4 Sporting for a week now and love it.
A few problems like the inevitable brake squeal, another sort of low-pitched groan have cropped up. Car is booked in to have them looked at and have the pretty useless aircon re-gassed
All in all tho very pleased with it :)

My aircon is pretty rubbish too! My little 206 sends you into a deep freeze almost instantly... but it's hours on the GP!

They are 15 spoker 17 inchers - they seem to differ for the petrol versions.
Washed it a few nights ago and they were really easy to clean...swings and roundabouts :)

yeah it takes ages to get going and is never as cold as my last Punto, it better with just the windows open.

the dealer said it might be Fiat being a bit mean with the coolant so they are happy to re-gass it.

I really like the alloys on your 1.4 Sporting. Are they only available on the Petrol Sporting, or can they be ordered for anything else (eg Eleganza)?

At present I drive a 307 (not today as it's back to the dealers with a broken CD player) and the A/C seems great. I can't compare as my Punto had a sunroof instead, so I haven't experienced Fiat A/C.

Nice motor

I think very early petrol sportings had the same wheels as the diesels but theyve changed them now...

The aircon on my car is really good, can feel it going cold within 5 seconds of pressing the button. I did have a 1.2 dynamic courtesy car with aircon though and noticed it took an age to cool down!

I know someone who has "close" contacts with Fiat - and basically the Aircon is not up to scratch. He recommends save the £500 and use the blower which is pretty effective. Anyway, only have about a month of proper summer a year in the UK! Can always buy a couple of those "cooling" aerosol cans...they are flipping good. used them in France last year.

Nice car the 1.4 16v Engine is quite a little wolf in sheeps clothing :).

yeah i discovered that last night on a nice open stretch of the A69 - uphill at 115 mph pretty effortlessly with lots to spare :)

You mean that the car reached abt 185 Km / hr ON UPHILL and had more to go ?

With Fiat's top speed to abt 178Km/Hr....?

You sure...?

Because the 0-100 Km /Hr for example is actually more (more tha 12") than Fiat's claim (11.4")....so it seems strange the top speed to be as above....

However, if you are correct,....I will be also very happy....:) , since I will pick up my GP 1.4 16V in few days...:slayer:

I have same experience. I reach 183 km/h and feel that can go more, but strange is that on some other occassions I can't reach that speed and car is behaving differently.

It might have said 115mph on the speedo, but in reality it would be unlikely to be doing 115mph due to the common speedo inaccuracy on any vehicle at higher speeds

Janem, I know what you mean,....but this I also experienced with my MK2b 1.4 16v many times....

One day flying......and next day,...like somebody has stolen my horses....

Also I have noticed big difference on cold weather and hot weather,...maybe more than in other cars.

The 115 mph might not be real,...but also I don't think FIAT's 178 top speed is the real one,......

As far as I know the difference on this speed between real and speed meter indication, must be abt 8-10 km/h.

Anyway I think more important is how the car behaves on the range of 140-150 km/h.....since I don't think many of us go with 170-180 all the time...maybe few times for fun, but not always.

So I would like to hear your views abt car's behaviour on 140-150Km/h...

I notiched that also, car is completly different when temperature is 20 degrees and it is different when is let's say for example 30-35 degrees. Also sound that is produced by car is different ( I like it more wneh it is cold weather) :)

On 140-150 car is Ok, I'm quite sattisfied, I can reach that speed without any problems and quite fast.

About inaccuracy of speedometer I think that it can't be bigger then 2-3%, so on 180 km/h it can be +/- 5 km/h

QUOTE]

I'm not talking about a steep hill, it was a steady climbing road and the speedo was at 115 mph - might be down to inaccurate speed measurement as mentioned in a later post - it felt good tho

looks great, lovely colour. like the shape looks like a bullet.

I finally got my GP Sporting 1.4 yesterday and I have to say that I am really really happy!!!:slayer:

The car looks great, the leather interior is very nice, the Skydome just perfect and the car is also fitted with the Blue & Me which I am now investigating .....(y)

My first impressions for the engine,.....well it is a bit slower than the MK2b Sporting but,....it is still ok only reved up to 3500 rpm and it is going ok,....i think on highrt revs will be even better.

On the highway with about 110-120km is just so quiet and comfortable....(y)

More detailed impressions and photos to come soon.
