Hi,

I have a 10 years old Punto Evo 1.4 (Fun). The dipstick indicator shows that oil is on the half. Should I add motor oil now or wait until it gets lower?

Also, do I have to add the same oil that's in the motor at the moment (Castrol EDGE 5W-40) or can it be from a different manufacrurer, as long as it's marked "5W-40"?

I would make sure that the engine has been switched off for at least five minutes and the car is on level ground and top up with your oil. It would be better to keep to the same grade and manufacturers oil! But you can mix them.

Top up to just below the max mark on the dip stick. Or better still, do a oil and filter change if its not been done for a while. You can also check for leaks at the same time.

Check your owners handbook to the correct specs and grade of oil to be used. Not all 5-40 oils are the same specs! Just like all other oils are not the same
