Hi

My air conditioning is not working, i have three light just below my radio, one is for:

The rear heated windscreen (which still works)
The air conditioning (does not work)
and climate control (does not work)

In the book it said that once the gas levels go below a certain amount they light doesn't work.

The garage replaced the gas yesterday but they couldn't get it to work, and said it might be the fuse, we have checked the fuse (well my dad did) and the fuse is fine.

Any idea why the air conditioning is not working.

It could be a lot of possibilities. If the gaz pressure is ok, need MES with OBD interface to check further I think.

Do you have manual or automatic aircon ? Can you take a pic of your dash ?

so it's got the 3 x twirly knobs, Aircon on an on - off button






NOT - the glass panel with 2 x knobs + 6 x arrow buttons , Climate with
aircon on a button.


anyway back to YOUR situation,


you bought the car, = the aircon didn't work,


you've taken it back , they've "fixed-it" and it still doesn't work..


is that basically correct..??




is this just a "car-sales" operation,


or is it a FIAT dealer..( with a workshop on site)


either way,
you should demand it's fixed Properly - or full refund.


sounds as if they've re-gassed the system, and it's either leaked out or another component has failed..either could prove expensive..

Thank you for your reply, i brought the car last July from a fiat dealership in Tamworth, the Air-conditioning worked fine until recently.

I thought it was not working due to the gas running out. But took it to garage (non fiat) and they removed/replaced the gas but it still inst working.

I have the three knobs and just below it buttons for heated windscreen, air con and climate control.

Ok so manual Aircon.

When you say "The air conditioning not work", so when you push button LED remain off, right ?
What did you mean when you say "climate control (does not work)" ? No airflow with fan, at any speed 1 to 4 ?

Don't forget aircon does not work when fan is at 0, it must be at 1 minimum.

When the garage did the check/refill, did they ad the green UV tracer to find leaks ? They checked low and high pressure in circuit, all ok ?

Air is coming through the vents, at speed 1-2-3 but the climate control button and air re-circulation button is not working..

Also the LED should turn yellow when activated but this isn't working either.

I think you have an electrical problem if two functions doesn't works.

I dont have the schematic for the Evo, but you should check fuse F19 in the electrical box near the battery. It's a 7.5A. Double check visually and with and electrical tester (or try to light a small 5W bulb with fuse in series).

Thank you for your reply. I am based in Birmingham, would rather have an idea of what is wrong because it sounds like it could be pretty expensive

as you've got a manual system with aircon - ( NOT climate) ; - )


your car is pretty darn similar the earlier Grande Punto,


look / post in there, as over the 6-odd years of UK sales of the GP somebody will have come across this before,


sounds electrical.. unless the aircon compressor has failed..


no warranty left from the car's purchase..??


there is a FIAT / Italian car place under the arches ( near the "bullring") that people on here have used and recommended before..,

chances are it's the air-con system that is US / inop.,
the other systems ( whatever are in YOUR model of Punto)


cannot function because of the Aircon fault.


the way I see this.
1, see an auto electrician and rule out a power supply issue ( to buttons on dash)


2, go to a FIAT / Alfa place , and use a proper FIAT / ALFA tool to see what the vehicles " BRAIN" / ECU is stuck with.., ( MES.. Or Examiner)
that may well be the most cost effective solution..


as I said above = under the new grille + lights.. you car is 95% Grande Punto.. look in that section of FF before spending money.. ; -} ,

This take minutes, need a philips screwdriver and continuity tester, and cost nothing...

or just a replacement fuse and the screwdriver..,


no specialist tools.. ; - }
