Get some spin locks

and some heat shrink for the hook end in case you contact the roof....
I had some rather long ones on mine the other year.... had a high vis vest cable tied to the bottom rung flapping marking the over hang was followed by a traffic cop most of the way and they never batted an eye lid.... im just unsure how much overhang your allowed

Already inherited some! It's going to have a reasonable sized triple on there, I'll give it a try soon. As far as roof bars go I don't think they look too bad! It would be handy to get a bike rack too.
I find mine whistle on the front set where it parts the door seal it drives me nuts
oh and remove and clean the foot plates regularly they chew into the paint if grit gets behind them
