Hi All!

The other night (a few days after I had changed my H4 bulbs to Mtec SuperWhites) I was looking at the headlights (at night with the headlights on) and there seems to be a discoloration patch (rainbow coloured slight circle stain) in the headlight lenses near the top. But i looked in the day and i can't really see it.

Anyone else noticed this or are my bulbs melting the lenses lol ? :slayer:

I wouldn’t think it was anything to worry about IMO, I’ve noticed before that some bulbs have a slight rainbow effect colour to them (a bit like petrol or oil on water), I think it’s just the way some bulbs are.
Are you using the correct wattage of bulb? (55/60W)

My driver side DRL mtec bulb melted the reflector and turn the outside clear plastic cloudy. I just stuck the original bulb back in and took it to fiat and they replaced the head lamp unit with a new one under warranty.

It will be melting your lenses if they are higher wattage than 55/65w I reckon

I'll clean my car next time we get half decent weather and check my headlamps, I noticed the bulbs are rather scorched on one side when i looked awhile ago, i didnt think to check if the lamp was ok :bang:

I've just had another look at my lenses and the oil/rainbow discolouration is there when the lights are off, I'm Guna look when I'm at work in the day if i remember.

I suppose plastic does have an oil residue in it, so I hope it hasn't heated the oil out... but we will see

Is that pic where the bulb has melted the lens?

Also, I can see the input is 60/55w on the mtec h4s but the output is 130/110w. Is that what it should be?

I know, i thought it was a little odd. You might be able to see the 130/110w stated in blue writing in this pic ? [URL="http://e92-lighting.com/products/MTEC_4350K_H4_SUPER_WHITE-274-18.html"

That's the first lights I've ever seen that state the output is higher than the input! Does describe that the heat isn't higher than standard. Unless they are lying!
