Right or Left?

Ive been meaning to post this since I had a full blown argument with a guy I had to spend 8hrs in a car with.

When driving an auto, do you right or left foot brake? Im a left foot braker, coming from a karting background where anything different is quite difficult.

The reason I ask this is because the V8Supercar safety car that I was lucky enough to drive to a dealership a few times recently, shat itself when the driver () left foot braked, making need for it to visit a dealership to be reset.

Right foot!

Used my left by mistake once in my dads A8, pressed far too hard and nearly went through the windscreen!

Re: Right or Left?

Right in a manual, usually end up slamming on the brakes when mentally trying to use the clutch in an auto, does that count as left?

You lucky barsteward!

I'm a left foot braker, can brake left foot in a manual too, even accelerate with the left, and clutch with the right (not at the same time ) when my knee has locked up.

Re: Right or Left?

I almost always right foot brake. On the road there's just no advantage to left foot braking.

Re: Right or Left?

Left foot = redundant in an auto, good practice to left foot brake in a Kart tho. In a car the brakes are so powerful these days I stand them on the front bumper if I left foot brake!

Re: Right or Left?

right foot or you get out of habbit of it, then when you go back to a manual you will left foot brake, then if you suddenly need to press clutch your feet get all confused
