I'm in a bit of a dilema.

I've got a 1991 999cc panda super, with alloy wheels and twin sunroof. I love the car, cheap to insure, go all week with £10's of fuel, and not many of them about. Its only done 57k so it should last a good few years yet.

My Girlfriend's brother has offered me a Punto 1.2 1995 to buy for £400, 3 months MOT and 2 months TAX. Got a few insurance quotes for this car and the cheapest was more than double the price.

Is it worth the extra money to insure every year? (£500)

I'm going for no not worth it although I would be tempted to upgrade. I expect the punto would be more comfortable and bigger too but if you love the panda and it's reliable the obvious thing to do is keep it:)

its a good price for a punto espicaly as you know its history, asuming he's has it a few years.
Cant you keep both[?]

I'm going for the Panda. My daughters P reg Punto 55 SX only had 48,000 on when she bought it two years ago, but it cost a fortune to keep it on the road. Head gasket, rear suspension arms, sump, clutch and gearbox all needed replacing within the year. She soon got rid of it.
As for the insurance, have you tried www.confused.com
This is a biased opinion though. I've had Pandas for years!...see my cool links.:D

I say keep the Panda! (And yes, I do own and love a Mk1 Punto :))

Pandas are getting scarce now, so one in good nick like yours is worth hanging onto. [8D]

Plus the Panda is much more individual:D

Nowt against Punto's, just one of this year and age is not unusual or special.

Stilo TURBO!!!!(diesel)

but the punto and sell it then if you can get it for £500 there is a bit of money to be made there.

Erm, I can comment for confused.com...they were appaling with me!

Wanted £1300 FC on a 95' N reg Cinq Sporting. Im 19 w\ 2yr NCB and the car is garaged. My current insurer undercut that by £400, with another risk address (that on all other policies raised the price by £50) in Lancaster, and the confused.com quote was based in Manc...I dunno!:)
