Hi ther everyone.
I'm about to place an order for a 4x4 Climbing, 5 years after selling my old 1987 model (120000 almost trouble-free kms in 4.5 years).
I'll go for the Clima and Skydome options (Aircon is std in Greece) along with ELD.
Does anyones know if ELD is worth the extra 200 Euros? Does it really do what it says, or is it just a fancy electronic gadget/addon?

Q #2: has anyone fitted rear electric windows in their Pandas? Is it possible? How?

Q #3: although it seems a bit absurd for a car of that size, I was thinking about going for the electric side-mirror option. The salesperson, however, sort of talked me out of that, saying that the switch is placed in a rather awkward position somewhere beneath the handbrake. Any ideas (or pics) about that??

Last Q: Does really the red colour fade. (I mean it is bound to fade with time, but how bad is it? is it like the pinkish -ex-red Alfas? (146 a prime example))

Thanx

I asked the salesman the same thing over here and he reckoned you only need it if you're likely to spend a lot of time in mud/on snow/on ice. As he pointed it it's really just an over-ride switch for the automatic ELD, and he felt confident enough to say that in normal usage the automatic bit should do its job quick enough anyway.

Then again, if like me you'll be spending a fair amount of time off-road in your Panda, he said it is worth it, especially for stop-start manoeuvres, particularly on hills.

I guess like you though, I wondered if I was spending €200 on a switch and an LED.

Out of interest, what's your quoted price for this?

The offer I got is 14,300 Eur, (std price 13650 +360 for custom clearance, handling and annual road tax (93 Eur in Greece for cars in this segment) incl ELD, Skydome, side airbags +adjustable seat. And I get a 900 Eur discount.

I like electric mirrors for parallel parking, you can easily dip the curbside one to see whats going on, my dads BMW has it, even my '88 750i has it built in and I miss it in the Fiat so I would personally have them fitted if it came without.

How capable is the 4x4 on tricky terrain?

Well, I can't say about the new one much myself; my best guess is that it handles better than is predecessor (used to be a proud owner myself: I got it to start on a >60% slope - dirt track was so steep that the outlets of the windscreen washers were actually lower than the tank itself (which was located deep down in the front left corner) and the water started flowing freely!)

now, as for the new one, I'm sure you 've seen this
