Radio startup volume

Hi

Is there a way to set the radio startup volume on the standard (non-mp3) CD player?

Mine is set to about 20 and I have to turn it up to 30 to hear it well.

Also has anyone got a radio manual in pdf format they could send me a link to, as the car I bought did not have a radio manual.

Thanks

Andy

Re: Radio startup volume

It's set that way so you don't end up DEAF.

20 is very loud so either you have a problem or you've had it on 30 for far to long!

Re: Radio startup volume

I must be deaf then.........

My Active’s basic radio cassette player switches on at a whispering volume level - so low that repeated stabbings on the ‘volume plus’ button is required before you can even hear the thing.

Fiat’s idea of a ironic joke, no doubt, to default set the radio to Rolls Royce hushed levels – in a car that even the most blinkered enthusiast must admit is more fortissimo than forte.

Anyone know a way to set the radio come on louder? There’s nothing in the handbook to help.

Hopefully this won’t elicit the usual stream of abuse. I can do without being told "My Panda is much quieter than a Lexus" and that I need to see a doctor to get my ears dewaxed!

Re: Radio startup volume

mine just comes on whatever volume you left it on, it does have seperate audio settings for cd/radio which is cool.

what type of cd player is it, the single DIN one or the newer Double DIN one?

It does that if you were listening to it below 20, hence why andyslack's is resetting itself. On the non MP3 one I had the traffic reports always came on at 20 which was deafening, thankfully the new one doesn't and stays where you set it like every other headunit in the universe.

The separate settings is indeed cool as you say.

Re: Radio startup volume

My 03 Doblo's radio comes on too low as well. I always have to crank it up. Very annoying.
I bet the substance of these radios is identical, and I wish Fiat would just get round to incorporating a mode whereby the last volume set is the one it boots up on. An annoying fault, and of the car, not my hearing, thanks very much.

My radio must be the same as yours... 20 is really low. It only ever stays that low if I have the parents in the car. Otherwise, I always turn it up to at least 30 for general listening... If it's a tune I like, it goes up to 35, and if it's a tune I really like, it sometimes goes to 40... Oh and if the roof is open, it'll be at least 35 to block out the extra traffic noise...

Perhaps there's been a software change, how old are the 'quiet' ones we're talking about?

Re: Radio startup volume

I think there must have been a change in the volume control software that wasn't executed properly some time around 2005. I think they probably reduced the number of increments between min and max volume from say 60 to 30 (i.e. 0=min, 30 or 60=max), but failed to change things like the default TA volume which was left at 20, in effect changing it from 1/3 of max volume to 2/3 of max volume.
At least in my 56 reg Dynamic the radio or cd comes on at the previous level that I was listening at.
I have mine set up with the equaliser set to minimum for all ranges which reduces the '20' level to 'bearable' in stationary traffic and means that on the M-way I generally listen to the radio at about 18-19 and CDs at about 9-10 (or 14 and 7 respectively in slow traffic).

My Multijet was ordered at the end of February 2005. I received it towards the end of May 2005...

By the way, changing the radio volume level really doesn't bother me...

Re: Radio startup volume

My radio (multijet, apr06) comes on at 20, and I can only hear it if the engine is'nt running. I am a little deaf, but I have to have it on at 40 to hear it. I can understand that it is a good idea to not have it blasting out when you first start up, but that would be preferable to having to spend several seconds with ones hand off the wheel, every time one starts the engine.
