Yep - realised that - was just impressed with the Baker-style tent (and ‘yep’ - a wee bit envious!)
Doesn’t surprise me that you could ‘feel’ a difference, Axis - while I’ve only ever run the OEM winter rubber on our 4x4, in cooler months (like now) I can ‘feel’ the summer tyres on our other car are markedly less grippy and feel harder than during the summer months. Confidence pulling out on greasy junctions is much higher in the Panda, with much less scrabble. Partly lower power (maybe, though you can limit that with the right foot), partly 4x4 system (though rarely kicks in) but a big part is that grippy winter rubber.

Welcome! Congrats on your Panda. They're not everyone's cup of tea, but I for one think they're masterpieces in style. Original. Strives to be nothing except itself. And as you've discovered, remarkably versatile. I've never been 'caught out' by owning the little Panda, it always rises to any challenge I've thrown at it - which there has been many since 2015 and most posted about on here!

The forum is one of the huge benefits to me of owning a Fiat. And from your post I can see a lot of the great members who've helped me have already welcomed you!

Many happy miles!

First full tank of fuel using winter tyres has seen mpg drop from 56 to 48/49 mpg. However, I'm using the extra grip to push the car harder and certainly having more fun. After a very cold, but bone dry, November the rain has arrived big time and the tyres have been superb. I mean, you really do feel the extra grip. Have to be careful not to be over-confident though

Overall, I'd definitely recommend a set of winter tyres/wheels if you can get them at a decent price. Mine were £330 delivered, which is a bit of an extravagance really, but the fun factor is way up!
