Hi - does anyone know what the cargo box option is - or better still have any photos, as I can't seem to find any anywhere?

Cheers Stu

Hi Stu,

It's your lucky day!(y)

I took a good few pics of the cargo box etc when we bought our Panda last year. They are on the first post here:

https://www.fiatforum.com/members-motors/299421-new-panda-has-arrived.html

It's pretty much impossible to find any pics on the Internet of it, so hope this helps.

My personal experience in 18 months of ownership is that it has spent virtually all of the time in the garage rather than in the car; it just doesn't get used much at all.

However, it does create a flat payload which has come in useful on a couple of occasions, and I have a feeling it was one of the free options we managed to negotiate too.

So on balance it has proved worthwhile, albeit not massively!:D

Hi - thanks I had seen your thread, I take it that it's the box / tray that sits under the boot floor then? Presumably this won't work in conjunction with a spare wheel though?

You should still be fine to fit a space saver wheel in its usual spot under the floor (and possibly even a full size one, I think there are others on here who have managed to do so). I notice that the FIAT configurator says you can't have both, but I have no idea why to be honest...

As far as I am aware, the boot configuration is exactly the same size and shape. All the cargo box does is still on top and provide a "boost" up to the level of the folded rear seat. And then of course it's topped with the fabric shelf so that you can arrange your small items in the box and lay large items on top.

I don't think its compatible with the sliding rear seat option???

Possibly not, no. But again, it's just a giant bit of polystrene (nothing too fancy!) and I reckon that if your sliding rear seats were in the standard position, it'd probably fit in there alright. Couldn't say for certain though.

Trouble is that hardly anyone has a cargo box; the dealers certainly don't keep many stocks, if any. So it's hard for anyone to tell.

Alternatively, if you are in the Mid Devon area one day, feel free to PM me and you can come on round to try my cargo box in your Panda!:D

Superuwe, firstly thanks for posting the photos,I have searched a lot for them & the dealer we bought our Panda from didn't know the Cargo Box existed.
Can I ask a couple of questions?
Are pics 2 & 4 showing a lid on the cargo box,if so does it come with this,or is the lid the existing boot cover, which can also be used with the cargo box(if you see what i mean).
In your post you mention the material being polystyrene,is this fragile or fairly sturdy,in other words how useable do you find it.
Thanks,Graham.

Hi Graham,

Not overly surprised your dealer doesn't know about it! It doesn't seem to be a popular option at all, think there are one or two others on here who have it.

Anyway, the box does indeed come with the lid, it just sits on top of the box once you've put it in the boot. The lid is the same design and feel as the one which is in the boot of the 500L, just a different size and shape. No doubt your dealer will have a 500L in the showroom, so you could take a look to get an idea.

As for the box itself being made of polystyrene...maybe an exaggeration!:D But it's that kind of material, it's really lightweight and strong too - it's a lot, lot stronger than any of the stuff you get protecting flat pack furniture etc.

As I mentioned earlier, it doesn't get used on a daily basis and spends most of the time in the garage. But it has come in handy when I've carried long loads; I've just popped the cargo box in, folded the front passenger seat down and slotted the stuff in. Easy peasy!
