Iíve just been getting a 2009 Fiat Panda 1.3 Multijet. For some strange reason it doesnít have a 12v socket for the likes of my sat nav or ipod etc.

Re: How to install an original 12v power socket in a Fiat Panda

I tightened up my handbrake cable and while in the vicinity had a mess about with 'broken cigarette lighter socket ' .( 2005 Multijet ) It turned out the fuse was blown .20 Amp -number 44 -layout was very different to pic in 50p's guide .
Now the real conundrum is that the lighter and an air pump will work but an iPhone charger WONT.I guess socket is 'sensitive' , looks tired anyway !

Re: How to install an original 12v power socket in a Fiat Panda

Just tried to fit a 12v socket in my granddaughters 2007 1.1 Panda.
No T31 relay, no F85 fuse and only some of the connectors are there where they fit.
Then tried following wiring from white socket back to fuse box again no joy, just where do they feed to?
Then looked for a way through the bulkhead again no joy and then felt too cold so packed it all in!

Now going to wait for a manual and wiring diagram and warmer weather!

No luck so far and as the granddaughter lives 40 miles away I will have to wait for the warmer weather!

Have several ideas as to what to do - manual was useless! even the wire colours are different!

Re: How to install an original 12v power socket in a Fiat Panda

Hi All,

Just had a quick look in my Daughter's 2008 Panda and the cabling is there and no fuse in 85. But there no pins for the fuse to go in anyway! I wonder if the pins are there but behind the fuse box. Will take a look when I get the chance.

We need it for both the insurance black box - just passed her test last week - and the obvious sat nav.

Best regards

Chris

OK found a 3way connector behind a side cover under the glove box. I would guess fiat sell an inline relay to go here. There is 2 wires each side one side has blue with black stripe and other side has an orange wire. I have joined these 2 wires together and then fitted a 10 amp fuse in engine fuse box left hand side small fuses think it was 3rd down should be empty. This will be live all the time so ensure you remove what is plugged in when not in use. Should take no more than 10mins hope this helps.

Thanks for the update.

I needed to get the 'black box' fitted for my Daughter in a hurry as the insurance company where getting agitated.

Cost me about £30 in parts and labour to get a local company that the Fiat dealer recommended to fit a cigarette lighter.

Best regards

Chris

Re: How to install an original 12v power socket in a Fiat Panda

Hi, I've just bought a 2006 1.1 Active, it's been fitted with a cigar lighter socket but there's no power to it, looking at the thread and the owners manual I downloaded which is dated 2007, the parts in the engine fuse box required to power it are : T35 and F81. My engine fuse box is a completely different layout, there doesn't appear to be a relay mentioned in the handbook and the fuse connected with the cigar socket is F44, which is ok.
Any thoughts and suggestions would be most welcome.

Re: How to install an original 12v power socket in a Fiat Panda

I'm sure you only need the 20a fuse for the fag lighter,to use as a charging point a 10a would be fine. My present car (vectra) has been wired by myself ,Coldwell lighting, drls, fogs etc and if in doubt start at the battery then a fuse the a relay then onto whatever you're fitting. It's not a big job ....even I can do it

Re: How to install an original 12v power socket in a Fiat Panda

These photos show the connector I have discovered in the wiring loom where a 12v connection is usually located in the fiat Panda but mine is a 2011 Active 1.2 8v which does not have it fitted as standard.

can anyone confirm that this is the correct fitting to connect the 12v unit if I purchase the unit or acquire a unit from a dismantler?

I have also checked the fuse is fitted from new so with a bit of luck it should work!
Thanks in advance for the info

Re: How to install an original 12v power socket in a Fiat Panda

I have a 1.1 Panda. The Electrical Connector for the 12V Socket is present as shown but not live. F85 and T31 are missing. I assume T31 Relay is necessary to switch the socket on with a supply from the fuse. Has anyone sucessfullyinstalled the relay, fuse and the 12V socket ?

Re: How to install an original 12v power socket in a Fiat Panda

Thought I has sorted it out!!!

Yesterday I had the brake light fuse go on me (first time Ive changed a fuse in 6 years)

undid the cover under the steering wheel and identified the blown fuse 10a, no spares, in fact only ones I have go are the larger size

Has a quick look at the manual to see if there was one I could nick from something else

FOUND SOMETHING INTERESTING

I have fuses for a sub woofer and electric sunroof, which arent fitted on the car

these are 15a so swapped over for the blown one and set off for the local motor mart to get some

On the way I thought, the fuses came out of sockets, there must be wiring to them, so after I got back I did a prob with my meter

no power to either side of them with or without the ignition on

didnt it take it any further but I was so hopeful

My main requirement for my next car, 12v Accessory socket!!!!!!!!!

Re: How to install an original 12v power socket in a Fiat Panda

I had another look today
Apart from taking the fuse tray out (bolt/nut one side and rivet the other) I cant see what wires go where
Has anyone taken out the fuse trays out, if so do you have any photos?

Thanks
