also try www.confused.com and try adding a named driver as well. Adding my mother as a named driver decreased my premium by ~£60 (£290 -> £230)and dropped the excess from £250 to £130. Shes never gonna drive ti though :D

Those stats are for Fullly Comp however, TPFT was on a few ££ less!!!

Nice post  Obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception if local plod find out. Or I take it she will drive it occasionally.

WTF! It doesn't matter if she NEVER drives it, she has the oportunity to drive it now, theres no deception there!!!!!!!

i think you mentioned she 'never' would... less attitude might be a wise move

however it is interesting to see how the premium goes down with more people on the cards... I think the system is taking the pee somewhat.

Sorry for the attitude but I certainly don't like being accused of deceit of my Insurer, therefore implying I am also driving with a void policy and illegaly!

I can have 5 named drivers and they may never drive my car, in fact I'd rather they didn't, but if they are on there, they can use it in an emergency, legally and without deceit. That makes my insurance void? Will get me in trouble with the Police (please explain)? Or is deceptive or immorral? Nope, I don't think so.

lol, so are a few of my mates, and I have my practical assesment for West Mid's Police in November, after getting through the written assesment :D

Still not sure of the problem :) If she was the policy holder, and I was thenamed driver, that would be a big problem, and illegal, but surely not this way around.

Sorry had to pop out......this makes all the difference

"Shes never gonna drive ti though :D "

and that along with the rest of the post....lower premium as a result of a named driver that would never use it is the offence complete.

I just thought it very odd to put such a post on a public forum.

I'm gonna see what difference putting my parents on Rufus will make in September, my dad loves the Panda so I'm sure he'd love a go. Plus I can return the favour of him insuring me on his brand spanking new Civic which arrives here on Friday. (y)

Edit: Quotes with a theoretical 2 years NCB are in the £400+ mark, I'll hopefully get a number which starts with 3 with my amazing haggling skills.

I applied in feb, got an application form in april, returned next day. I then heard from them next in July, telling me the 2nd stage would be in november/december. It appears it can take a while to hear back, just sit tight and fingers crossed :)

Just thought I would update. I spoke to admiral on the issue as it was bugging me lol. They said that as a named driver "she has the entitelment to drive the car as a named driver, but it's not a requirement that she drives it". They also said that it typically increases a premium to add a named driver but sometimes makes it lower it with younger drivers.

Odd really as:

I am 25
Have 6 years no claims discount
Have held a full UK licence since 09/97
Have 0 points on my licence and have never had any (touch wood)
Have never been in an accident at all (again touch wood)

Doesn't really look like i fit into the typical case?

Maybe other insurers have a different view, but i'd think not.

They did state that if a named driver spent a "large proportion of time using the vehicle", that it could be investigated on a claim, and the insurance made void.
