Are you using new drums? If not, have you removed the wear ridge?

Edit: The circular bit on the shoes is a friction adjuster, it's fitted into a slot.

the "ridge" shouldn't be any bigger than original drum Dia..,
so there is something stopping the shoes squeezing in to minimun Dia.

assuming Kendo101 you've got the correct shoes.. there ARE a few variations on dia, and width..,

It will be the springs in the new shoes that centre them.
It is nothing to do with the retaining springs top and bottom.
Knock the shoes inwards from the OD until the drums fit, but as suggested make sure the handbrake is totally free.
Once the drum is back in place press the brake pedal to centralise and then adjust the handbrake

Dave I owe you one , and the rest of you lads are great an all , I thank you all for your input

Palm hit face when I realised the springs move.the pads are in and work great as does my handbrake

I do now have another issue though lol , it would appear that when the wheel bolts are in and I spin the wheel I have a clacking sound. So I remove the drum....again.....

It would appear that contact is being made between the wheel bolts and the lower spring

Have I maybe fit the spring the wrong way round, or have I deformed it during removal/fitting ?? Although that spring is bloody tough

Ken

I believe their standard ,it didn't do it before so I'm a bit stumped , I'm at it now with me head torch lol

If you haven't disconect hand brake cable from the back of the drum or if it is hard, you can undo / loosen the nuts on the 'U' joint under the floor.
Photo isn't clear but it looks like there is no slack(free play) between the handbrake lever and both shoes.

I sacked of the handbrake cable from underneath the rear whels both spin freely but the wheel bolts are still catching inside and it's louder when driven :( ,

I've had enough for today I'll get out Early morning and see if flipping the lower spring round will help

And only one side is doing it !

points at something other than long bolts at least..;)

Yh it must be leaking , the oposite side was nice and oil free inside,

She keeps me busy <3

I forgot to update lol , spot the difference,

I did sort it out that nite I just couldn't leave it.I was at a loss and remembered an earlier post asking if all my wheels were original and it turned out one wasn't !!!

I couldn't believe it, or understand why .the matching wheel was under the hood with a fresh looking tyre on it but for some reason previous owner decided to put one odd wheel on ??

On to the next job :) thanks for all your help people x
