Anyone give me a clue what a faint whistling noise from the engine bay might be? It's a bit like a turbo noise but obviously there isn't a turbo and it out the same way it came in.

also speedo cables is there a way of making sure they are connected to the back of the speedo?... mines looking a bit drunken.

Whistling noise? where in the engine bay is it comming from??

Could be a bearing, alt belt or alt bearing, gearbox, lot's of things really.

The speedo is normally down to the gearbox side but the dash is easy to get to to find out if it's attached properly. They do wear which can cause the fluctuations as your driving

sorry to bring up an old thread, but my panda is now whistling/hissing when i accelerate (sp), its got quite bad, and sounds like a turbo. When i drive down the high street people now look at the car due to the noise (turbo charged panda (y) ).

Check the vacuum hoses on the inlet manifold side of the engine. Does the servo work ok? If it's not giving much assistance, check the hose from the inlet manifold to servo unit.

Also check the cambelt tensioner bearing. These can make weird intermittant whistling noises when they start to go.

Don't you just love old Fiats with FIRE engines :p
