It does have a twin sunroof though. I'd love a twin sunroof... :(

I quite often crave a tin-top. It's strange. Obviously on belting summer days the soft top is unbeatable but it must have quite a cost on rigidity. And when you have the window open but the roof up it flaps against the metal bars. Wouldn't get this in a tin top, although I guess a tin top would be a bit, well, tinnier!

I'm just rambling now... I do like the gentle patter the rain makes on the roof. Oddly therapeutic.

that's actually really true, the rain is relaxing and the wind noise drives me crazy! (note, two latest pandas have tin roofs!)

esp if you open the front roof and not the back, it really starts off then.

thou you can stick things in thou the bars to stop it (de-misting pads, newspapers, small childern... That sort of thing)

The twin sunroof is an integral part of the Panda design - what strength there is in the upper parts of the bodyshell is provided by the sections of the "frame", especially the centre cross piece, which is the same on a Panda with or without the sunroof.
The missing bits of roof when you have the option are totally flat (very thin) sheet steel, which I doubt adds a lot to the rigidity.

Regarding the noise:
yes, it's a bit like being in a tent when it rains.
but the ammount of wind noise (when closed) varies a bit depending on how tired/stretched the individual roof is - the two I've had were different.

On balance I prefer the sunroof - It's surpising how often it's open:
freezing winters nights are quite invigorating when you're tired after a long day. (The heater struggles to cope though :))

You can buy thin, adheasive-backed felt padding to stick under furniture to protect your flooring at home. I bought a sheet of it, cut it into thin strips and stuck it along the lengths of the canvas roof struts. Life is much quieter now ! (y)
