worth buying this?

Just seen this very close to my house
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=261091940066

It looks in good condition (won't know till i go check it out), but to be honest 300 is in my opinion far too much, considering the engine needs fitting and its impossible to tell if its actually gonna run or not once its fitted.

I'm thinking of seeing if it doesn't sell, then making an offer.

Anyone have a suggestion for price?

Looks like a good candidate for a 16v conversion, the new engine with it looks like an earlier one with a dizzy so that might cause problems.

Not worth 300 though, especially only with those pictures, if it really is mint body wise then maybe worth close to it.

Re: worth buying this?

do the engines on the 1994's not usually have dizzy's? or do you mean they are different types?

Re: worth buying this?

later ones had twin coil packs instead of the dizzy, I imagine it would just be a case of unbolting the dizzy and bolting on the twin coil packs instead, aswell as changing the rest of the ancillarys and inlet etc.

Those pictures really tell you nothing, you need to check it out in the flesh.

As Freddy says, if the body is really good I'd offer him around 250.

Re: worth buying this?

Nice guy but classic ebay auction where buyer will be disspointed if they dont see it first!.

Fair few small things wrong with car:
Spline on front wiper gone
front bumper crashed but not marked, bracket needs serious bending back
rear sunroof rubber broken
rust on passenger side wing needs cutting out and patching
doors good but not mint underneath
grill broken beyond repair
handbrake doesn't work

been stood for over a year and is in no way mint condition, but to be fair body work and doors are pretty good. under arches.underneath looks alright, small rust but nothing major.

Would be good 16v project car. but he says 'no rust problems', well there is rust on it, so bit misleading!

told him to get back to me if it doesn't sell.

if anyone needs doors, might be cheaper than buying new ones, and almost as good!

Nice assessment

Always best to check em out in person, very rarely are they better than described.
