Light at the end of the tunnel

Not quite a panda but after 10 years out of action my Y10 is now finally coming together

I picked up the freshly powder coated HF Turbo alloys this morning complete with new P5000's

By the end of the week I should have two new front wings, two new doors and a new tailgate. Then I say bye bye to the car for four weeks in January as it heads into the paint shop.

Once I get it back the interior will go in and hopefully get it through its MOT.

Will post some more photos of progress if anyone is interested? Not many Y10s around now so we need to adopt some friends.

Cheers

Dave

Well I'd certainly like to follow your progress, so more pictures please.
What size are your tyres, and do they fit under the standard bodywork?

Rare as in rare. 100x more Marbellas rolling about! They do exist in sheds and garages. They tend to be a pile or perfect. Not many in between just knocking about like Pandas, for example.

Y10s are curious cars and great if you know how a Panda works as they are very similar underneath. These days an in this country though, just get a 3 door mk1 FIAT Uno for much less many and very similar look, features, engines, etc.

Just look at this beauty!

I have gone for 185/60 R14. Not the lowest profile but lots of tyre choice and cheaper than 55 or 50 profile.

Fits under the standard bodywork with a bit of trimming of the inner wing at the back.

Cheers

Dave

I had an Uno before I got the Y10 in the late 90's and they certainly do have a bit of retro cool.

You are not wrong about how rare the y10's are now. Even when they were new there were hardly any on the road. From memory there we only something like 40 GTIE's ever on the roads in the UK but hundreds more Fire LX's like mine.

Cheers

Dave

Re: Light at the end of the tunnel

Wooo hooo doors and wings arrived with CV Panels in Glasgow today. Will get some pics on Monday when I go to pay for them.

Kenny Laird www.kennylaird.com will then be taking delivery of the panels ready to start piecing it all together in January.

Dropping the back seat off tomorrow to get re-trimmed in the same fabric as the new recliners.

Next job is to get the dash out as there is a stack of welding to get done around the window.

When you get the car back from Kenny, get the waxoyl out immediately.

Are you going for a wild colour?

Cheers

I have booked a weekend away with the Lancia Owners Club at the end of March so needs to be finished mid Feb so any problems can get sorted out. Don't fancy doing a 400 mile round trip in a car that was last on the road in November 1999 without a shake down or two

Cheers

Dave

Didn't want to go too mad with the waxoyl if it needs any welding again in the future. But I do want to keep the car long term so needs a good rust proofing plan.

Down to two colours at the moment. Nothing wild, red or red. Won't be the original Fiat orange red.

Cheers

Dave
