Hi Peeps

I just need everyones opinion on the doors for my 4x4. When the acid dip took place it has highlighted the rot on the doors and basically they're not repairable (n)
What do I do? Do I have the rest of the car painted first, (which isn't a problem, as there's no electrics in my doors) and while I'm building the car, save up the £394+VAT for two brand new doors? Or do I try and find some second hand and hope the rot isn't too bad to just respray them :bang:

Cheers all
Nick (y)

Hi nick..It seems your spending alot of cash on this build anyway..

I'm of the school of thought...if a jobs worth doing etc etc and you really are doing a great job!!!!
I would bite the bullet and get new doors....its only money.:D:D:D:D

If it was a bit of a lash up then 2nd hand doors...but its not!!

The search for rust-free doors is something of a grail quest for Panda owners.. :)

That said, a few pop up in scrappys that are in reasonable nick and certainly repairable. The later, galvanised, models don't suffer from the tin worm anywhere near as bad. Mine's now 15 years old and still hasn't succumbed. And before you ask, no, you can't have my doors.

If you can find a donor car from 92/93 (?) onwards, you should be on a winner..

Cheers,

Plug

Find some second hand in best condition as possible and do what needs doing....my last Panda 93 Parade with metalic paint had almost perfect doors, so you will find it...
You spend 400-> pound on new one and in two weeks time some idiot in merc will smash it...:(

I'm going to go down the new doors route in the new year... With the new bonnet and a second hand tailgate

The doors are rusty and the bonnet has got lots of ripples on it from me sitting on it (yeah, fat ass) but the hatch is fine... Just dont want to loose all the stickers off it from the different parts of the world that I've been to in the panda.

BTW, the last time I got a quote for doors they whree about 170 each.... (Plus Vat)

Jim

Right, problem solved.
One door (O/S) is salvagable and has already been fixed (see pics), and the other was knackered so I've ordered a new one (£192+VAT)
Job done! (y)

Hi there, are you able to let on where you ordered your replacement door from for the tidy sum of £192 plus VAT? Thanks.

I would have the door but delivery is too much...anyone want to collect it for me???? (Cheeky request not likely i know)

Manda Panda was kind enough to find me two minted doors earlier in the year and Jim was also kind enough to drop them off. Destined for the 90 but shows there are still some out there if you look hard enough.

So that's two forum members that Manda-Panda's old Selecta lives on through then. The CVT gearbox sump is a spare in my shed from it, as are it's ECU's (Which are in the house somewhere ) :)
