Hi All

What is the correct head tightening/torquing sequence for a 1.6l 16v Fiat Palio engine?

I've heard 4+90+90 and 3+90+90

I'm a little wary of turning bolts an extra 180 degrees after tightening them... won't it break the bolts?

But why have they started to adopt this kind of tightening sequence instead of the oldstyle N/m tightening sequence?

Thanks in advance

Hi ,
it's supposedly more accurate.., as it's essentially 180' from "finger tight"..,
personally I do follow that procedure.., THEN.. I use one of the old style "deflection" torque wrenches,
(still in the correct bolt sequence) I turn until it just creeps ( note the tension -usually around 130ft/lb) , then try the other bolts in sequence , going to the same figure..

I often find that at least ONE will be relatively slack..once I'm done all are down to the same torque, and I'm a LOT happier in my mind!!,
