is the standard fuel pump capable of feeding twin 40's at engine speeds up to 8000rpm or will I need to uprate, and if I do any idears as to the flow rate required.

Not only will you need to uprate to an electric fuel pump, but you will have to pay careful attention to where you mount it. Handbrake turns will starve the pump if its in the wrong plce.... BTDT

I used 2 x 1.5litre a min pumps in my rally car, mounted one on each side, had fuel pickup each side at bottom of tank (8mm, 5/16"), then ran them together into a Y piece that went (3/8",10mm line) to the front of the car, fuel pressure regulator set at 3.5 to 4 psi, and a (1/4",6mm) fuel return line back to the tank.... in the T that you put the return line into.... braze up the 6mm spigot, and drill a tiny (2mm) hole to restrict flow back to the tank.

Thanks Fiatfactory I have got hold of a Facet silver top pump capable of feeding 27 gallons/hour more than enough, I intend to fit it under the car where the spare wheel would have resided. For the two pick up points I take it you had to modify the tank to accept the second pickup, I had thought about using foam in the tank to stop the fuel moving about, what are your thoughts on that, also will the original plastic pipes be up to the increased psi. . Just received two new still in their box front struts from Germany yesterday, cost £6.90 off ebay, intend to weld on a threaded coil over kit to them and fit my newly purchased 21/4" springs £9.00 off ebay. This is a budget build after all! :D We recently spoke about tuning the 1301 engine and know you are well rehearsed in tuning the larger 1500 engine, but I spoke to an engineer in England who builds heads for the uno challange He is able to get 108bhp with a standard bottom end standard inlet and exhaust, the 1500 cam and 34 DMTR carb, he also says that they take up to 2mm off the head to get 11:1 compression, I hope to have my head done by Eric before xmas, although work is slow at the minute due to work commitments.

I run a facet silver top on my Mk1 Golf on twin 40's which is a road car. I foudn that it actually fed more than enough fuel and I had to fit a Filter King pressure regulator. Woulnd't recommend using carbs without one now!
