Well I was in Paris for Bastille Day (why don't we have anything remotely similar here, it's such a shame).

During my time in France I noticed a number of new Twingos on the road and at the odd Renault dealership but hadn't had a chance to get a picture. So of course hitting the Champs-Élysées, my first port of call was the Renault dealership.

I absolutely love the little thing. Model shown is a GT (1149cc 16v turbo).

NICE!!!

I know a hot german photography girl with the old twingo, she thinks it the bomb shizzle, but inside its not disimilar to a ford ka, e.g bare metal everywhere (n)

the new one looks fiesty, another spinoff of the original avantime concept (drove one a few weeks back, and it gets the official (y) ).
shame no onewill buy the GT< they'll all go for the 1.0 3cyl banger (n)

In the UK the only engines available from launch are the 75 bhp 1.2 16v NA and the 100 bhp 1.2 16v TCE (turbocharged) engine.

In France you can also get the dci (65 bhp only but I imagine they will make the 85 and 105 available at some point) and the 1.2 8v 60 bhp. Initially in the UK, only slightly higher specced models will come with more budget models following.

I think it looks awesome for a small car, the interior could be more exciting but was solid, the seats are extremely good (didn't get a picture though :( ). That has been specced with CC and a full glass roof.

The door handle is an old style lift up half-hidden type affair as per the pictures, I don't like it (too much like the Uno!) but I think it was one thing they wanted to keep from the old model.

2 seats only in the back.

Not sure I like the RPM counter there without a speedo but it seems to be the norm now on a lot of cars I suppose.

really like the front of the twingo but the rest i must say is the classic 'i cant be bothered' design. Just replicates everything else small and dreary on the roads.

Doesn't excite me - just reminds me of old clios.

Don't like the rev counter on its own up there. Should have a speedo with it or a fuel/temp/oil pressure guage.

Dark bit of centre console doesn't look bad apart from the display at the top - looks like an afterthought. Really don't like the lower light part. Looks just like cost saving cheap plastic.

for its sector and target market it looks fit for purpose and fairly stylish, you cant really ask for more than that from the frenchies. :)

no you can't. looks a LOT like a daihatsu/swift (sireon?) rally thing, can't remember the name now but was really popular in the 1400 and 1600 class's from 2005/6/7. I.e compellty square backend apart from a stick on spoiler.

problem is that is the PROPER model, with all the kit and all the optional bodywork. I'd hate to see the lower end ones with black textured bumpers and 12" steelies :yuck:

Meant to tell you about the UK twingos a wee while back Paul as I know your a fan however the Press think's it won't sell as it's about 10 years too late, imagine the Espace not comming till 10 years later.

It's cool LIam, I knew about it ages ago. I wonder if it will sell here, it was a huge seller in France and Renault must regret not having brought it here...

They had the option of bringing it in before the KA, Cento's etc but now those in the know say it will struggle to find a place in the UK market - this is something Renault are used to!

Like the Espace and the Scenic? ;) They like to create markets more than joining them I suspect, I doubt they worried too much about losing sales in the UK alone, I imagine they needed mass sales to make it profitable anyway.

I am in the know, it will do ok ;) :p

I saw 1 Bravo in France but didn't have my camera at the time :(

That's quite nice. Why on earth aren't they bringing the diesel to the UK though?

I suspect they will, just a little later, possibly due to the RHD conversion taking a little longer for the bigger diesel engine? The two initial engines, 75 and 100 bhp, are just for starters I expect.
