Hi fellow Barchettista's...
I'm a newbie on this site but have owned my Bella for almost 3 years now.
I have an issue with the speedometer...I was replacing all the bulbs on my dash and now my speedometer dial doesn't work...the odometer does work however.
I don't think it's the speed sensor or ECU...perhaps I buggered up the needle on the dial?
I have troubled shooted to no evail...help and any suggestions

I had the same issue, after lots of trying, solder, sweat and a few years, I bought a while display unit with all dials from Henk, slotted in, worked perfectly ever since

When I bought my car , the rev counter didn't work on the test drive ,so the whole instrument set was replaced for when I picked it up .

Then I noticed the speedo didn't work until the car warmed up a bit or a few miles covered , they replaced the whole instrument set , and I ended up
with a MPH and miles speedo with 19000 miles less than the equivalent KMs
ones that were removed.

I then took the miles from 62000 to 135000 in 7.5 years with all instruments functioning most of the time .Fuel gauge sometimes needed the dash thump to wake it up .

Thanks everyone for your input! I will attempt to take apart the circuit to see if I somehow damaged the wiring inside...if that looks good then I will put it all together and cross my fingers it works.
I don’t have a soudering tool but may have to invest in one...
All of this just to replace some bulbs geesh...
Oh I also had an issue with the original dash cover as it was a bit buckled and not sticking properly to the plastic frame so I ordered the cheaper vinyl (sticker) dials from eBay
Our B’s are like opening up a can of worms lol

Hi Bellagirl, and welcome!

My speedo only works when it wants to. I've learned to live with it, and have found that calculating my speed by using the rev counter has greatly improved my mental arithmetic! (y) :D

My speedometer has been unresponsive lately aswell. When i bought it the trip meter didn't work and you could "bang" the trip reset button to get the speedo to come alive. I took the dash out and fixed the trip meter(it had come off its slot)+cleaned all the contacts. On the test drive the speedo worked fine even without banging but ever since it hasn't moved at all. Cant bang the trip reset button anymore cause the trip meter is fixed now.

I found the thread Wapper linked but i guess the images from that are lost or i just cant see them? Either way iam not really sure how i should attempt to fix it by soldering. Should i just solder a new wire between the contacts or what? Theres some slight(?) cracking on the bent connectors but without a reference picture iam not sure if its enough to cause the problem.

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

A replacement set of instruments might be the only fix for this .
How many Barchettas are there in Finland ?....not many I suspect .

I have a good set for sale with MPH not KMs markings but sending it to you could be a nightmare , blame Brexit partly for that , unless you know someone who lives in the UK and travels to and from Finland regularly .

Mine is still not fixed. But I kind of like this warm feeling of slapping something (or someone :) ) to make it work.
One slap to dashboard, another to the glove compartment to make right window work, and we are good to go!
hurjakuru just resolder every joint you can access, specially the big ones. Any visible crack can cause trouble, but many cracks can remain invisible even with close inspection and gentle bending of the board.

I managed to get the dash back to "work by bonking" state. Just reseated all the connectors i think one of em was not pushed in all the way.
sometimes the needle decides to point at 80kph and stick there but bonking gets it going again, for now. :)

If it ever gives me trouble again ill take some pictures of the floppy circuit board for clarity.

And yeah cant imagine theres that many barchettas here in finland, i think mine is the only one ive ever seen live. And it was imported from germany by a previous owner too :D

I might be visiting a friend in the UK in august, depending on the covid situation etc. If your dash is still for sale at that point and i need it i think we could arrange something.

I will keep it safe until August if you do come over and if you think of any other bits you might want that you can get in your flight luggage just let me know by private message .

I assume you're flying over , only nutcases drive from Finland to the UK ...
