Hi, I have had issues with my LCD screen on my instrument cluster where the digits and words were random and now they do not display anything other than the light working. I know from reading elsewhere that this is due to damp conditions and where I am is damp so I'm sure this is the cause.

Regarding fixing it, I've seen elsewhere that people have bought a different instrument cluster unit to just swap out the LCD screen (as long as its the same size), i was wondering if this is actually plausible? I have also seen that people recommend not pulling the gauge needles from the unit but that seems to be the only way to fully open up the cluster in order to replae the screen. I tried removing the needles and they seemed to not budge at all. Am I not pulling hard enough or is there another way to open the cluster unit, when I try pushging out all the tabs it still isnt easy to open?

I am worried I may have damaged my needles as they do not rest on 0 now and are a bit lower than they should be (also mph and fuel needle drops as soon as I turn my key), but this is to be expected id imagine as you would reset the dials after the LCD screen is in funtioning order as you can use the settings.

I have been looking into a new whole exact same head unit but that will cost minimum £45 and still have to fix the mileage as I am aware you need a lower mileage to increase it back to normal.

I have found a different instrument cluster but with the same size LCD screen (for removal and install without full use of cluster) which would cost me £25 but of course as I mentioned above, I was having problems trying to open and access the inside of the cluser already. Hence my dilemma!!

If anyone could give some advice that would be great!
