Whatever has happened to routine checks? When I started driving, checking the oil and coolant levels was something you did every day, before starting the car. These days, many drivers don't even bother to check these things at all, believing that any problem will be picked up when the car is serviced.

Car manufacturers aren't helping much either. The oil level in my non-Fiat car can only be checked via a menu on the infotainment system, after the car has been driven for 15 minutes and warmed up(!) - there is no dipstick to manually check. The TPMS takes about 4 miles of continuous driving to calm down if I dare take the dust caps off to manually check tyre pressures. The screenwash tank is hidden deep in the engine bay away from sight so a dash warning light lets you know when levels are low rather than being able to visually check. If you do choose to top up without knowing the tank levels then you're playing a game of risk with the conveniently placed electrics near the filler cap. There's an ever increasing reliance on the car to tell you all is well rather than being able to do so yourself, even if you are inclined to check.

jrkitching would a complete engine block with gaskets ect solve my problem or do you suggest complete engine replacement? Asking as I’ve found complete part for replacement.... but I have also organised an engine swap from my old 1.2 car also the engine on my knackered engine is stop start but my old car didn’t have this will it still work after swap or is it the engine that does all that?

What exactly is it that you've actually found? Can you post a link?

A short engine block will fix piston, ring and bearing issues, but if the cylinder head has warped, or the valve gear has been damaged by lack of lubrication, you'd be better off with a complete engine.

As far as S/S is concerned, the engine cores are identical, but some of the ancillaries are different - the S/S car will have an uprated alternator and starter. Provided you swap the engine with all its ancillaries, S/S should work as well as it ever did - or not, as the case may be.

Advising you properly is impossible without having the car in front of me. I think you need to find a mechanic you can trust, and be guided by what he says.

but im thinking this prob wont fix the issue if my engine is as you said a (fire engine) am I indeed best looking for a complete engine? I have seen quite a few from decent sellers I have seen a 2019 with very low miles but will that fit? or will it be too new? also will there in all possibility be anything else I will need on the day I have the engine fitted could a blown head caused anything else to fail? like pumps or thermostats? nothing showing in MES …..yet

That one is not suitable.
You need a complete engine, so it can just be swapped over, with just ancillaries swapped, and as advised, new cambelt and water pump. That is easy to do with the engine out.

There are three engines.
A square oil filler. 60hp, too old for your car.
Round filler, 60hp. Still not right.
Round filler, with variable valve timing. 70hp. That's the one. Any 500 1.2, (and probably Ka), Panda from 2011 onwards, but careful not to get the older spec.
