Hi demi
Be a good idea to check the "common problem" areas ASAP to get an idea of your cars condition and prevent future problems
Top things to check are_
Battery earth strap- corrodes out and causes many electrical problems.
Rear hatch wiring under the rubber boot running into the back door -likewise!.
Original equipment thermostats have a plastic pipe that carries the hose to the heater matrix it goes brittle and snaps off can replace with an aftermarket thermostat that has a metal pipe!.
metal pipe water behind the exhaust manifold rusts out and leaks>
Exhaust manifold studs rust and snap can be replaced with S/Steel ones.
check the rear axle beam and spring mounts for rust- likewise the sump pan!.
All these issues covered in detail on the forum if you need to look up and read about what to do!
With these areas ok and regular servicing the 500(1.2) is a fun reliable little car i am sure you will enjoy! have fun!.
