New to the group and new to Fiat ownership ...
My beautiful 1968 F needs a new gearbox, constant mesch has given up the ghost, would like to change to synchronized, any pointers/ tips ..? Would be appreciated

There are 3 options---(1) buy a 2nd hand gearbox, but you will have no guarantee of condition or mileage covered, (2) buy the parts and re-build gearbox (or have it rebuilt for you)--new parts will have guarantee, but not the old parts or, (3) buy a reconditioned gearbox from a reputable supplier---"Ricambi FD" sell reconditioned gearboxes for all the 500 range. They might be able to get your gearbox overhauled for you by the same specialist who does their gearboxes---they are in Holland.

F D Ricambi are in Venray, about 1-1/2 hours driving from Rotterdam. I have dealt with them on a number of occasions---always been easy to deal with, and always had very good service from them.

Dare I ask if you are 100% sure it's the gearbox?...…….As you are new to ownership of these little cars there are other symptoms that may make you think it's the gearbox......

fair point, yes very new to theses cars, the car is stuck in first, and I have full mobility of gear stick .. also gearbox oil was black after a week and with flakes of metal, last garage that looked at it found two bearings “floating” in oil, and gave the car back to me have since found another garage, and will keep you posted.. fingers X’ed
