I am very tempted by an 850s saloon 1971.

It has had some metal restoration about 20 years ago and an engine rebuild but not an unleaded conversion.

I've yet to see it but it looks beautiful in the photos, dark blue with what looks like 850 sports steel wheels and folding full length black canvas sun roof.

Having had a 1970 model in 1974 (already boot rusted through which I repaired with fibreglass and a strategically placed black vynil cover!) I have always (pervertly) wanted another .(This was one which would swap ends quite regularly anda front wheel lock up to avoid a bus on narrow windey Lake District roads (It didn't miss but the stout side of the front bumper prevented any damage and only bent the corner of the bumper by a couple of inches!

Other than the usual areas of rust should their be any other specifics which I should look out for?

The owner says that he uses top octane fuel plus an additive every two or three tank fulls without problems.

Would appreciate any comments that you might have.

Check for rust. You already know that.

See that it has tray under water pump area. Often removed but greatly helps cooling.

Presumably the current owner knows about quirks like the centrifugal oil filter and make sure things like king pins well greased.
