HI guys, as title says, as of this morning I have warning lights on for my fiat fiorino van 64 plate. when I turned the ignition on this morning I got a warning error for a airbag failure as well as fuel cut not available and when I plugged my seatbelt in it still beeped and did not recognise it was connected. parked up at work and left it for a couple of hours. turned ignition on again and now the only problem is the airbag failure light. I've trawled the Internet for problems but cant diagnose it without an actually diagnostic machine which I don't have. has anybody else had this problem before? TIA

Hi,
Welcome to Fiat Forum. The fault you describe could be a number of things. As you say it realy needs proper diagnostics. Without this you could be wating money guessing what part to change. Fortunatly there is Multecuscan (MES).

First though, did anything else happen to the car recently? Did anything slide under a seat? this can damage or disconnect wiring.
MES is a program that runs on a PC (laptop) and provide diagnostics, not just fault code reading. You can download it from www.multiecuscan.com

You need a ELM327 USB interface and adaptor like these www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Fiat-Alfa-EL...dapters-Diagnostics-Multiecuscan/282526378637
Along with the the MES registration fee of 50 euros it still less than just getting the fault codes read by a dealer.
You can download the free copy and play with it without an adaptor by clicking on the "simulate" button rather than connect.

Thanks for the reply Rob, yes you are right I think I need to get it plugged in and see what fault codes come up. no I don't think anything has slid under the seat although I do have stop start and there looks like there's a small battery underneath the drivers seat? If anybody knows of anyone with the fault reading software in south Derbyshire please let mew know and I would happily pay for the services instead before I pay for it all myself.

Personally I would not use the stop start technology i would turn it off as all its doing is wearing your parts out quicker thus costing u more in the long run

So I have not managed to locate anybody with the software to scan the car. I e just downloaded multiecuscan on my iPhone and looking at buying a Bluetooth obd2 reader as I don’t currently have a laptop. Does anyone know if this will work the same as the laptop version?

Hi
Using wirelease or Bluetooth is not recommendedfor use with critical systemslike airbags because data link failure can cause issues. Running it from a desktop indoors would be asking for trouble. Just about any laptop will do. You just need windows xp or later and USB. I've even used an old one from free cycle which cost nothing.
