Hi, I’m wondering if somebody could help me please. I have a 63 plate 0.09l twinair fiat 500 with around 82k on the clock.
Two days ago my Milage on my dash started flashing & ive now came to notice that the stop start doesn’t work or the menu button or media button on my steering wheel as well as the blue&me. I took it to a nearby garage today & they ran a diagnostic test which came up with the fault code U1733, however I can’t seem to find the bit in the Manuel which tell you what the codes mean. Can anybody help me with what the problem could be please?

Hi. And welcome :)

U1733. Convergence Node.
(May as well be a WW2 SUBMARINE..) ;)

Generally speaking this will be a part of the vehicles CANBUS wiring circuit.

2days ago was COLD.. so you may well have found the power limits of an elderly battery.

Stop start is FUSSY though.. so if youve had it working until now .. then the battery is..or was.. obviously still fair.

As a 1st.. cheap and simple test.
Disconnect the Negative battery cable for a few hours.
Once reconnected there is a chance function will be restored..

Where are you based.. ? some of us on here have the kit to perform relearns

Charlie 2012 twinair

Mine is a 62 reg twinair and I get all sorts of silly errors all the time. When I first got the car I was really stressed about it, and now this is what I do. Firstly, mine goes mad in the morning if it’s been raining during the night, I don’t have a garage, but no rain, no weird error messages. It’ll start and usually dispaly the stop start symbol with the amber triangle and the engine warning light, it’ll misfire, give another code ie door open and go into limp mode (won’t rev over 2000 rpm ) so, I keep it running for a minute or so and then somehow it’ll rev ok all the the range but all the lights are still on. I’ll drive it for a bit like this, then at the first red kight, turn the ignition on and off. It’s then clear like nothing has ever happened. I’ve also found that charging the battery once a week helps (and if it’s a 2nd hand car, check the battery is a stop start one £200) and I bought a obd reader/thing on eBay for £20 that clears down all the error codes and that helps too. Seems it doesn’t really matter what the error codes are, just delete them and turn the engine light off. Works for me.
When it’s going great it’s magic. Italians eh?

Yours sounds like an earth strap problem. Quite common.

Thank you. I’ll check the earth strap tomorrow, it seems so obvious it didn’t occur to me! Cheers

Thanks again, it was the earth strap on the ecu.
£200 is what my local dealer quotes. I’m not quite mad enough to go for that, but there must be people who do or they wouldn’t have them in stock, and you should see what they quote for replacement keys!
Thanks
