I have a Punto and even though the car is regularly topped up well I have noticed that whenever the engine warning light comes up if I add water to the car the light will clear.

The engine warning light is showing because of a ongoing problem with a map sensor.

Just change the map sensor to start with and low Engine coolant level will also bring up a fault
