Hi
I'm new to the Forum and hope you can help. I bought my new Panda Cross last year. In the event of a flat tyre I only have the foam. I'm not happy with this as if i do need to use it then the tyre cannot then be repaired due to the foam. So I'm looking into Space Saver wheels. Unsure of what size I need I contacted Fiat and they say that there isn't one for a Panda Cross. I'm further confused as there is a tyre well in the boot area which is only big enough for a Space Saver and when I go onto the Fiat website I can configure a new car with a space saver. Dur!! Can anyone tell me what size space saver i need to buy. My wheel size is 185/65 R15. Many thanks.

I have a Cross and can confirm a spare is available as an option, the catch is the jack is longer on the Cross and won't fit inside the spare so lives in a bag in the boot.
The jack can be found second hand as it is from another Fiat model but not sure about the space saver spare but others will no doubt advise you :)

Just found this in another thread which may help you.

"For the Trekking, 4x4 and Cross, the spare wheel needs to be 15" in diameter (in part to clear the larger front disc brakes), and is fitted with a 125/80x15 space saver tyre. And, crucially, the jack is different - because the car sits 2" higher of the road to start with, it uses a bigger jack that extends to a greater height. This jack is labelled as being for the Panda 4x4 and Qubo models only. This will not fit inside the spare wheel and so is supplied in a separate bag. The 175/65 R15 wheels that the Trekking/4x4 are fitted with, and the 185/65 15 wheels of the Cross will not fit into the spare wheel well in the boot, so you cannot carry a full size spare."

Welcome Loopz

One thing you may not have spotted on your first visit to the Forum is the very powerful 'search this forum' link (at the right hand end of the top orange bar, just under where it says 'Page 1 of 63')

If you type into that 'Cross Space Saver', you'll find all sorts of helpful answers (the question has been asked a few times before :), including my answer that pasotibbs has pasted into his reply (the original post is here, by the way: https://www.fiatforum.com/panda-iii/329490-panda-4x4-toolkit-5.html?p=4199685) .

Another post identifies that you can use a spacesaver from an older Fiat Punto (but note it needs to be before about 2006 as the wheel bolt spacing changed on the Punto after that: also, a wheel that old may well need a new tyre simply owing to age, not wear: https://www.fiatforum.com/panda-iii/317846-space-saver-wheel-2.html?p=4180751

It's amazing what you'll learn from all the helpful folk here... Enjoy the Forum, and your Cross :)

This one is dear by UK standards - generally expect to pay £10-£25 for spare wheel/tyre and kit from local ads or breaker's yard.

Thinner on the ground in Malta I fear. I think that's why Caravaggio returned to Naples.

I had a day off work last week and sourced the tool insert for the spare from a 2wd Panda so mine is now the "correct" way up with everything apart from the jack now inside the wheel (with jump leads wrapped around the insert in the gap created by the larger spare), it just needed a slight trim with a knife to allow the longer tow hook to fit.

Might be wrong, but that’s a 13” rim which wont fit..

Good point - I was assuming our Maltese friend had a standard 2WD Panda versus a Cross. If he has a cross then it's a different tyre/jack and a pretty slim chance of finding a used one.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your reply.. Caravaggio FLED and headed for Naples, Fearing for his life....
I drive a Panda Easy and not cross. I have purchase a fiat 500 complete jack & tools one online. Still looking for a spare rim & tyre..
Much appreciated If anyone can send me a picture of the whole lot.
