Hi just brought a fiat 500 1.3 multijet sport 08 plate :) should have come on here first however my wife used to own. 500 1.2 pop so though we knew all there was to know.

Long story short been looking for several weeks for a new fiat and one popped up a few days ago within our budget and really really good condition so we made the purchase.

Would just like to know, other than this being diesel is there much difference from this to the 1.2 pop we had? Do much go wrong with them as our old one was fantastic never no problems and only ever had running costs like services and tyres.

Appreciate the replys, Tom

Hi, and welcome, :)
it's the same car..,;)

however it may well have a Diesel Particulate Filter
these need special care / attention.

basically it's a "soot-trap" that then uses extra fuel ( and certain engine conditions) to "burn itself clean",
SEARCH DPF in the 500 section.. for more info,;)

Thank you, if I'm honest I'm a little worried with going through with the sale. We go and pick it up/ pay the rest of it tonight.
Ive just read they can be from £1500-£2000 for a new one if it does go. I'm my eyes the car is cheap it was advertised for £3950 and I got them down to £3700 (private sale) the car drove fine no lights appeared or noises that should be there.

Does this sound too cheap to be a car with nothing wrong with it? The car has 45k on the clock or am I just worried too much being as I don't know the car.

Also have just rear about DPF delete would this be the way to go?

Anyone interested this is the description or the car.

Hi.
The part service history COULD be an issue..as you want to reset things in the vehicles computer after oil changes..this isnt always done out of specialist care..HOWEVER you can do it at home with the correct siftware.
Dpf is there to save the planet..delete/bypass is now illegal..MOT FAIL

CAR itself sounds fine..carefully check to see what dash lights illuninate BEFORE AND AFTER start-up

thank you will have a look once we collect for the lights. my brother is a mechanic so luckily he has access to these type of software although what do I tell him needs to be done as I have no mechanic lingo :( as you say it needs to be reset I could get him to do this for reinsurance as the owner said the service was only recently done in the last month (only receipt for oil filter and oil etc to show)

one thing I did find strange was starting the car, I put it to natural then tried to turn the key to start and nothing, He said no on these diesels you have to put it onto ignition then off then you can turn the key as normal to start it. is this correct? I cant remember having to do this on her old 1.2 fiat but that was petrol.

not sure with ign switch.. normally you get the glowplugs symbol for 5 / 10 seconds at MAR position..then turn key further to spin over on the starter.

the "oil degradation" needs to be reset after a service / oil change,
SEARCH in the 500 section..!!;)
