Firstly hello fellow fiat 500 lovers! :)

My little 500 is my first car, it's great! But unfortunately I had my first little bump - It has resulted in my left DLR becoming dislodged, it has fallen down has anyone any idea if it can be easily fixed?? Or what it may cost me?? The light still works it just seems to have "popped" out of it's place? (n)

Many thanks!

There is an access panel which just unclips in the wheel arch. You don't need any tools. This is to change the bulbs, so I doubt you would be able to get to the mountings.

The DLR is secured using 4 screws (or is it 3) onto mountings on the inside of the bumper. If it has become dislodged, I suspect that at least 2 of the mountins have broken. They are quite delicate just like the top brackets on your headlights. You would most likely have to take the bumper off, and either take a chance and using a strong glue (not superglue) to glue the brackets back together or go on eBay and buy a second hand light and fit it.

It's easy to get the bumper off. 3 screws in each wheel arch, four screws at the top under the bonnet, 1 or 2 underneath just in front of the wheels and 3 underneath. The whole thing then just pulls off (pull from one side) gently by firmly outwards, not downwards. The brackets are quite delicate that it sits in either side. You can have the whole thing off, fit a new light and fit it back in about 30 minutes or so.

Something like this happened to me a while ago after a bird strike.

The DLR is held by three bolts I think, and you don't need to take off the bumper to replace it. You will need to remove some of the screws holding the front part of the wheel arch liner and bend it back a bit for access.

In my case the brackets on the light itself broke off, not the mountings on the inside of the bumper. I bought a pattern part from ebay that was indistinguishable from the original, about £25

Hello,
I had a similarity accident one year ago, as someone drive into my bumper. I assume some of the three bracket on your DLR is broken and you wold need to glue the brackets back together. Her some photos from my case.

Best repair material for this type of plastic is the powder and super glue - pour some of the fine powder into the brackets, then wet with the super glue. It's called Rapid Fix here in NZ but undoubtedly there will be similar products in England.

I think 'DLR' throughout this thread means 'DRL' - Daytime Running Light rather than Docklands Light Rail :)
