Hello guys!! I'm hoping some one on.here can help me to work out what's wrong with my seicento abarth...
It has been stood for a good 6weeks with half a tank and it ran fine last week but did seem to over heat so i let it cool down and it drove back a bit sluggish. It has only done 69k and a V reg. has had head gasket re done couple years ago . have put a new clutch and battery on the car all recommended factory parts. when I turned the engine over to start it yesterday, it turned over fine but no sign of fireing and wouldn't start. The warning light was constantly on didn't go off or even blink when trying to start it?
When I put the key in to first click position the engine warning light, power steering light and air bag light goes on after a couple of seconds they all disappear except the engine warning light?? And the fuel pump seems to prime the engine a lot longer since it hasn't started.
HOPE SOMEONE CAN OFFER ME A FEW WORDS OF WISDOM AND WILL BE MUCH APRECIATED.

there should have been two ikons a key and a fuel injector did both come on and which one remains?

Thanks for a quick reply people :) and yep the yellow code light comes on and goes off like normal. Just the engine warning light stays on constantly.
Also when I have nearly stalled the car (pulling away at low revs) sometimes the code light comes on and power steering light comes on and lose power steering... It has always done that but when I take take key out of ignition and put in and restart, it all goes back to normal????

the engine management light on my seicento stays on till the engine has started hope that helps.

Martyn

well the sequence to try 1st is turn on ignition but don't try and start.
the immobiliser should go out first
the pump should stop 2nd
the injector should go off after about five seconds

if the injector stays on the ECU has a problem with a sensors reading before the starter is run

it will start with some problems but not with others

could be an injector fault has the auto been unused got a long interval?

Check for spark when the engine is cranked and fuel past the injector (petrol wet plugs) after cranking. If neither, suspect TDC sensor, although it will rarely throw up an ECU code.

Incidentally, the "injector" light is really the Engine Management Light. Injectors themselves seldom give problems.

if the injector wiring had a problem the ECU light might stay on and the auto not start... the TDC wiring ditto
