heater will probably be the coolant system needing topping up and bleeding!

not sure what you mean by ECU settings and a search didn't turn many reponses up

Re: Hey all, my name is Funtime, and i drive a knight rider mk2 punto

Sorry, should have explained myself better.ECU settings as in like for example, im worried it would revert to "Limp home mode" which is a setting on the ECU which means if your car develops a fault with one of the sensors (coolant temperature sensors etc) it will decrease the amount of "oomph" your car will be able to use, its just for getting home safely sort of a thing.

Also I replaced the water pump and coolant temperature sensor after the head gasket had been changed, most of the coolant hoses seem to be doing there job properly, apart from the ones leading to the internal heaters, there seems to be an airlock, but bleeding the system is not having much effect...

Ah right, I see; shocking the ECU into a protection mode. Makes more sense now.

With regards to the heaters, the heater matrix is the higest point of the system so the easiest way is to park the car nose up on an inlcine to bring the bleed screw down to at least level with the filler inlet. If you've already done this aswell as the squeezing pipes and any other tricks then you may have a collapsed pipe. Were the heaters working OK before the head gasket went?

Yeah the heaters were working perfectly, I have them on quite a lot because its quite cold where i come from (Ayrshire in Scotland ha ha) but yeah they were working fine.Mite be an idea to try the incline thing tho, havent tried that yet...

Remote central locking should be good though!!

Had to put mine on an incline when I flushed the radiator system out, gravity doesn't like you trying to fill up something higher than the filler but once it has liquid in it's fine Make sure you keep putting fluid in till you get a bubble free flow of coolant out of the bleed point and take the screw fully out (preferably when cold so you don't hurt yourself!).

good luck with the central locking!

IF/When i get my punto back, first thing on my list is to fit central locking. Going to be fun as there no way im going to be able to do it!! ive gotta ask around and rely on someone else to do it. Gonna be a pain to sort out but cant wait till!!

good luck with yours!
