I have just filled up my diesel fiat with 13 liters of petrol and my girlfriend drove it to work this morning what shall i do?

thanks for the advice.

However we are in France and the garage said that beacause we have driven 25 kilometers already and that there was some diesel and only 13 liters of petrol, just to top it up with more diesel.

What do u think?

I'd still say drain what is left in the tank as a minimum. You never know what damage that petrol could do to the fuel lines when it finally gets drawn in. You might be lucky and the petrol could be sitting ontop of the diesel in the tank as ptrol is less dense than diesel.

I'm sure we have had this many times before, I am pretty sure diesel floats on petrol though... sloshing it around in the tank will mix it up but it will percolate back together again when the car is left standing, but I may be wrong. There is a lubricant in diesel which is not present in petrol, this is for the fuel pumps and injectors. Get the petrol out ASAP and cross your fingers, hope you get away with it.

In an ideal world you would drain the tank, fuel lines, and change the filter. In the real world i would be inclined to fill it up with diesel and forget about it.

Aparently they actually mix rather well... so get all that fuel out!
