Hi,
I've just joined, and I guess like most new members of any forum, I'm looking for something. Specifically, enough information to help me make up my mind as to whether (or not) to buy a Fiat Multipla. The one I'm thinking about was traded in to a garage and has since gone to another garage 50 miles away to be tidied up and sold. By a wonderful fluke, I've talked to the guy whose car it was. I asked him (as the car is no longer cluttering up his drive) for his candid opinion of the car. He emailed back the following;
"I wouldn't buy it! We spent over £1000 last year on the suspension. When we took it back to the FIAT garage because the alarm light was on they just ripped out the alarm! One sunroof leaks, the door seals keep falling off, the tyres scrub off easily with the wide wheelbase & power steering and the fan belt keeps getting chewed up"
Does this sound like a car that was a dog, is a dog and forever will be, or a car that needs just that little bit more to make it really nice? Should I take his advice and run (don't walk) away, or are these problems common, and reasonably easy to fix? My car history is checkered. My present car (sold but not yet collected) is a rare Series 2 Citroen V6 XM `Exclusive' auto Estate. One of only 28 of this specification registered in the U.K. it's going to an enthusiast who intends to make EVERYTHING WORK He probably will; after owning and running it myself for 4 years it needs a fresh approach............. The car I'm thinking about is a Multipla 1.9 Diesel with 84,000 on the clock, aircon and twin sunroofs. Paintwork looks ok.
I know I'm doing this wrong; what I should do is introduce myself (Hi; my name is Jim and I'm new here) then wait a few weeks before asking questions but if I'm going to jump in, I may as well jump in the deep endeace:
