I've recently experienced water leaking from the electrical switches which control the sun roofs on the Multipla. I've owned the car one year, and this has only happened once, and at the moment the problem seems to have gone away - so it a bit of a puzzle.

Has any one had anything similar?

When it happened, it was not raining, the sun roof had not been opened for weeks, I had just driven for an hour, then parked on level ground for about 2 hours. On continuing the journey, water poured out of the roof switches, especially when accelerating and cornering, for about 5 minutes. Any ideas?

Hi Bite

Sorry to hear about your problems. It's a great car no matter what anyone says!

I had a Fiat Brava with the same problem (also my brother's Marea weekend had the same). When i did some investigating, i found out that water was getting past the sunroof seal and collecting in the sunroof gutter. As I park on a slight hill, the water was not going down the escape tubes, but for some reason it was breeching the interior-sunroof seal, and pouring on top of the light cluster. Hence, when you cornered, it would spill everywhere.

First thing to do is to remove the light cluster, leave it off, and sit in the car whilst someone hoses it down - and see if you can see where the water is coming in.

If it is the sunroof, the way i resolved this was to get a new interior sunroof seal, and pack it with Halfords Water Resistant sealer (not too much as it'll come out all over the roof lining). When you've put that on, you can see the outer edge of it on the sunroof gutter. Enough sealer (you could put a rim of sealer around it on the gutter plate) will stop the water coming inside the car, and will force it down the escape tubes.

Also pour warm soapy water down the escape tubes to make sure that they are not blocked in any way.

Check to see if it's coming in through the aerial seal - it is it, remove it, pack it with the sealer and replace.

Hope this helps & GOOD LUCK!!

I had exactly the same problem.

What I found it was was that the wife had opened the sun roof with water on it (not actually raining at the time) and the standing water that was on the glass ran straight into the roof lining.

Took quite a while to dry out poperly.

Same thing happen after 6 months from new.
First aerial was checked, Secondly sunroof seal was checked
and finally sunroof seal was replaced. Car now 1 year old and
so far there has been no repeat of the problem.
All the Best

I had this happen and found that it was the sunroof draging the rubber seal out of place.Open sunroof and from outside standing at side of car, look to see if rubber seal front edge is running evenly.I think it happened upon closing with the front edge just catching on the seal.A short term fix was to close sunroof to point of catching then tuck rubber back in under it.My first repair by dealer was to lube the rubber.Second repair was to replace seal.Third was to replace whole sunroof(or so they said!).Can't remember if they replaced one or both but I seem to think they said had if it not been a warrenty repair it would have cost 800 pounds.Sorry this might not be much help.To keep dry you could just keep tucking rubber back in and keep it closed
